Description Adam Ruzicka 2020-04-16 14:24:20 UTC
Description of problem:
The satellite receptor installer assumes ansible runs on the target machine (so it is running against itself) and performs local lookup. This could break if the job got load-balanced to an external capsule.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run the satellite receptor installer role against satellite
2. Add an external capsule with ansible feature
3. Stop satellite's internal capsule
4. Run the receptor installer role against satellite again

Actual results:
The run will either fail or change the configuration (regenerate receptor uuid)

Expected results:
The run wil be successful and won't make any changes.

Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Satellite 6.11 has moved to an RHC based Cloud Connector and does not intend to address this issue on older, receptor-based installations.
