Description kohnish 2020-04-29 16:00:02 UTC
Hopefully I'm reporting this to the right place, but it looks like tilda on Fedora 31 is outdated, and it looks like it's not available on Fedora 32.

It's a great terminal emulator written in C and performs the best. I appreciate if the support is continued. I'm glad to maintain the package, so it'd be also great if somebody can guide me to the right direction if it'll accelerate the process of upgrading this package.

I retired tilda for the f32 release cycle, because over the last years it was not supporting Wayland. This meant that it was crashing as soon as someone was trying to open it on a Wayland desktop. This led to a large inflow of abrt bug reports and it also wasn't usable for a large portion of users who could easily install it.
Up until the last release my understanding was that the tilda devs didn't have the manpower to make it usable on Wayland again and this was the reason I retired it.
To get it back into fedora one would need to start re-review of the package. I will see if the latest version still works with my spec and then try to get it back into fedora.

Please check if this scratch build works for you:

I've also just now am preparing an update for f31 and it would be great if this would fix the crashes on wayland.

Still Wayland is not really supported yet, see the upstream issue

Thanks for the reply. I didn't expect to reach you again, sorry for the duplicate request.
I'm on wayland but the current version for fedora31 mostly work. So I had hoped, it might be able to go to f32 as well.

I've tested that pull request, but somehow it doesn't compile due to some vte library issue. I'll look into it further.

I filed a review-request to get the latest version into f32, but in the mean time you can use the packages from this build if you are on fedora 32. If you're on fedora31 I've just created an update this morning as well.

I can't appreciate you enough. I was hesitant on upgrading to F32 for multiple reasons. But I'll migrate anyway.
The update also works fine on F31 by the way! No need to set GDK_BACKEND=x11. The only thing it's not working is global keyboard shortcut on certain conditions. But most of the time it works, which was the same behaviour as the previous version. Hopefully the upstream patch will fix this issue.
