Description Andrew John Hughes 2020-05-15 04:53:07 UTC
We currently provide *-slowdebug RPMs which are created in the exact same environment from the exact same sources as their companion production RPMs, but are unoptimised with debug code compiled in, so issues can be investigated with the exact version with which a problem was reported.

OpenJDK also provides a 'fastdebug' option, which is an interim step between slowdebug and product builds. This has the debug code of the slowdebug build, but is compiled with optimisation.

There has been some call from customers for these builds, as they allow a build with debug code to be run in production in order to replicate failures. A slowdebug build would be too slow to use for this, due to the lack of optimisation.
