Description Jochen 2020-05-27 12:50:08 UTC
Description of problem:
=======================
The shipped codespell package is incompatible with the system's python3 package. The python code in codespell creates a warning when executed under python 3.8:

$ /usr/bin/codespell -q 2 /some/src/file.h
/usr/lib64/python3.8/codecs.py:905: RuntimeWarning: line buffering (buffering=1) isn't supported in binary mode, the default buffer size will be used
  file = builtins.open(filename, mode, buffering)

Version-Release number of selected component:
=============================================
codespell 1.16.0
[python 3.8.3]

How reproducible:
=================
Execute `codespell` in a terminal:

$ /usr/bin/codespell -q 2 /some/src/file.h
/usr/lib64/python3.8/codecs.py:905: RuntimeWarning: line buffering (buffering=1) isn't supported in binary mode, the default buffer size will be used
  file = builtins.open(filename, mode, buffering)

Actual results:
===============
prints a warning due to bad python code.

Expected results:
=================
no warning.

Additional info:
================
This problem is already fixed upstream in the codespell source code on GitHub:
https://github.com/codespell-project/codespell/pull/1401
So the codespell package maintainer should grab the current version, recompile and repackage to fix this.
