Description Thorsten Scherf 2020-05-28 09:01:31 UTC
This bug is created as a clone of upstream ticket:
https://pagure.io/certmonger/issue/53

EST is the successor to SCEP.

A library which implements the EST protocol can be found at https://github.com/cisco/libest

Note that this RFE is to add support for EST to certmonger only, which acts as a client. If server support is needed then see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1849834

The libest upstream has not been very active in the past few years. There have been a few merges in 2020 and 2021. Prior to that was 2017. There are currently open 17 pull requests. Of the open issues several are key items like support for OpenSSL 3.0.0.

It currently requires libsafec which does not currently ship in RHEL. The requirement for libsafec can be disabled but is not recommended by upstream (e.g. not supported).

A more current and much smaller implementation which claims to be fully RFC-compliant is https://github.com/danharkins/est

A less compliant python version, and also not maintained, is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1849834

The required EST client features would be helpful to determine a possible route forward. Which authentication mechanism(s), server-side key generation, data encapsulation requirements (CMC), etc.

Issue migration from Bugzilla to Jira is in process at this time. This will be the last message in Jira copied from the Bugzilla bug.

This BZ has been automatically migrated to the issues.redhat.com Red Hat Issue Tracker. All future work related to this report will be managed there.

Due to differences in account names between systems, some fields were not replicated. Be sure to add yourself to Jira issue's "Watchers" field to continue receiving updates and add others to the "Need Info From" field to continue requesting information.

To find the migrated issue, look in the "Links" section for a direct link to the new issue location. The issue key will have an icon of 2 footprints next to it, and begin with "RHEL-" followed by an integer. You can also find this issue by visiting https://issues.redhat.com/issues/?jql= and searching the "Bugzilla Bug" field for this BZ's number, e.g. a search like:

"Bugzilla Bug" = 1234567

In the event you have trouble locating or viewing this issue, you can file an issue by sending mail to rh-issues. You can also visit https://access.redhat.com/articles/7032570 for general account information.
