Switching to RHEL-8 and dracut, based on the patch from comment 0. Could you please submit that patch as a PR to dracut upstream? https://github.com/dracutdevs/dra I finally made a PR to upstream Since the problem described in this bug report should be resolved in a recent advisory, it has been closed with a resolution of ERRATA. Created attachment 1702045 [details] Proposed patch Description of problem: In pxelinux.cfg kernel command line parameters it is possible to omit the NFS server. Kickstart then uses the next-server or the dhcp-server as nfs server. The syntax is inst.stage2=nfs:::/my/export/dir When dhcp-server and next-server are different ones, kickstart prefers the dhcp-server over next-server which should be the other way round.
