the longhaul module (CONFIG_X86_LONGHAUL) should never have been built for RHEL4, as it's known broken, and requires a huge amount of effort to make it work reliably. I recommend disabling that in a future RHEL4 update. In the meantime, you should be able to safely just rm -f the longhaul.ko file(s) from /lib/modules/... hmmm...we actually have this built in so you can't just remove the module :( There is a 'dont_scale_voltage' module option, but i have no idea if this will help...there is also a debug flag that can be set. the option is worthless (the voltage scaling isn't present iirc) the whole driver is unfixable without major kernel-wide changes to ensure no DMA happens to any device around a speed-change transaction. This appears to be a duplicate of Bug 172730 This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has requested further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update release. QE ack for 4.5. committed in stream U5 build 42.32. A test kernel with this patch is available from http://people.redhat.com/~jbaron/rhel4/ Longhaul support has been removed from the -52 kernel. An advisory has been issued which should help the problem described in this bug report. This report is therefore being closed with a resolution of ERRATA.
