With a DVD inserted, what does: /sbin/vol_id --export /dev/hdc (replace it with hdc or whatever node your dvd drive has) print? Also with a DVD inserted, please attach the output of lshal. /sbin/vol_id --export /dev/hdc: ID_FS_USAGE=filesystem ID_FS_TYPE=iso9660 ID_FS_VERSION=Joliet Extension ID_FS_UUID= ID_FS_LABEL=DOOM3_DVD ID_FS_LABEL_SAFE=DOOM3_DVD I think it is not a hal problem, i think it is an kernel problem. I have tested my computer with suse linux 10.0 with no problems. But when i updated the kernel, i get the same problem as in fedora core 5.
