Description Kenny Tordeurs 2020-10-01 07:54:15 UTC
Description of problem:
The description of filter_host_parents in Satellite Webui does not correspond to the description in virt-who-config.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.7.3

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Infrastructure -> Virt-who-Configuration
2. Filter -> Whitelist/Blacklist
3. Help for Filter host parents

Actual results:
"Only hosts which parent (usually ComputeResource) name is specified in comma-separated list in this option will be reported. Wildcards and regular expressions are supported, multiple records must be separated by comma. Put the value into the double-quotes if it contains special characters like comma. All new line characters will be removed in resulting configuration file, white spaces are removed from beginning and end.

Expected results:
filter_host_parents

Only hosts which cluster ID is specified in comma-separated list in this option will be reported. Put the name into the double-quotes if it contains special characters (like comma). PowerCLI command to find the domain names in VMware `Get-Cluster “ClusterName” | Select ID`

Comment 2 Kenny Tordeurs 2022-01-28 09:49:52 UTC
Any update on this?

Comment 3 Marek Hulan 2022-02-01 09:36:06 UTC
Not from me, I think the update of an inline help is trivial, the update needs to happen at https://github.com/theforeman/foreman_virt_who_configure/blob/master/app/views/foreman_virt_who_configure/configs/steps/_connection_form.erb#L16-L18

Adding a needinfo on Jonathon, his team currently owns this component, hopefully they could add it to some upcoming iteration. It may speed up the process if you submit the PR with changing that text.

Comment 4 Kenny Tordeurs 2022-02-01 10:52:40 UTC
@Marek ack, I'll add a similar PR for the form like I did for virt-who candlepin:
https://github.com/candlepin/virt-who/pull/168

Here is the PR for the inline doc: https://github.com/theforeman/foreman_virt_who_configure/pull/142

Created redmine issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/34370 from this bug
