Description of problem: when closing and/or alt-tab out from a fullscreen application, the time won't change and you have to hover and/or click on it to refresh.

gnome-shell-3.38.1-1.fc33.x86_64


How reproducible: always.


Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch a fullscreen application, media player or play a video on youtube in fullscren.
2. play for a few minutes.
3. leave fullscreen mode and/or tab back to desktop.
4. hover over or click with your mouse on the clock in your taskbar.


Actual results: clock remains stuck, (example: "08:03", when in fact it's 08:51).


Expected results: clock should always show the current local system time.


Additional information: the only thing I've changed or added is one world clock.

Can confirm, laptop running Fedora 33 beta that I manage also experiences this after closing a full screen video.
They also told me that moving their cursor over the clock will trigger an update.

Can confirm this is also present on Fedora 33 final. This was not an issue on Fedora 32.

to Reproduce
1.) open an app in Full Screen mode.
2.) wait for the time to change ( look at the phone etc...)
3.) hit windows key and look at the time. (will stay like this till you mouse over.)


Actual results: clock remains stuck, (example: "08:03", when in fact it's 08:51).


Expected results: clock should always show the current local system time.


Additional information: nothing added to clocks.

As stated this was a non issue on Fedora 32.

If I understand correctly, this is about the time shown in the gnome taskbar, not about the gnome-clocks application. Therefore, I reassign to gnome-shell for further triage. (Simple test: Try again after you uninstalled gnome-clocks. Pretty sure you you'll able to reproduce without it.)

I think it was fixed some time ago and I haven't run into this bug on Fedora 34 (beta).

This message is a reminder that Fedora 33 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 33 on 2021-11-30.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
Fedora 'version' of '33'.

plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
