Description Gary Scarborough 2020-10-13 21:00:34 UTC
Description of problem:

Right now, in the satellite 6.7 documentation, there are 2 ways to enable repos on a disconnected satellite. Use the ISO's that Red Hat provides, or go back to the 6.4 documentation and use export-legacy.

Since we are doing away with the pre-generated ISOs, can we consolidate the 2 export methods into one? As far as I can tell, most of the difference between the 2 export methods is the addition of listing files in the older command. Since this will be required for future disconnected satellites, is there any reason not to have every export create these files?

Having multiple methods of exporting acriss different versions of satellite and having the command name change creates an extremely confusing experience for our customers.

Can this be streamlined or is it already in the plans?

Upon review of our valid but aging backlog the Satellite Team has concluded that this Bugzilla does not meet the criteria for a resolution in the near term, and are planning to close in a month. This message may be a repeat of a previous update and the bug is again being considered to be closed. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your Red Hat Account team. Thank you.

Thank you for your interest in Red Hat Satellite. We have evaluated this request, and while we recognize that it is a valid request, we do not expect this to be implemented in the product in the foreseeable future. This is due to other priorities for the product, and not a reflection on the request itself. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this feel free to contact your Red Hat Account Team. Thank you.
