Description Jan Kaluža 2020-11-05 08:53:58 UTC
When installing the latest RHEL-8.4.0 Development Integration compose on ppc64le in Beaker, the installation fails with NetworkManager segfaul. Other architectures work as expected.

Beaker logs:

https://beaker-archive.host.prod.eng.bos.redhat.com/beaker-logs/2020/11/47067/4706710/9019584/console.log

Compose:

https://odcs.engineering.redhat.com/composes/development/latest-RHEL-8.4.0/

NetworManager version:

NetworkManager-1.30.0-0.1.el8.x86_64.rpm

Please fix this ASAP, it breaks Development compose for all other teams.

s390x segfault backtrace

This is gdb backtrace of segmentation fault in initrd on s390x (can not reproduce on ppc64le, unable to run nested VMs required by our test framework).

Comment 3 Jan Kaluža 2020-11-09 06:56:00 UTC
Would it be possible to get Brew build with the fix today to unblock RHEL-8.4.0 Development composes? We should have a compose tomorrow which will be later dropped to partners.

Comment 4 Jan Kaluža 2020-11-09 06:56:40 UTC
Note that it is OK for this Brew build to be just in the -candidate tag (no Errata Tool needed), because Development composes are built from the content of -candidate tag. It only needs to pass gating.

Comment 5 Jan Kaluža 2020-11-09 14:23:03 UTC
This is currently waiting for gating. Please once the tests are finished, please ensure you handle the gating results :).

Sure. Gating has now passed.

Comment 9 Jan Kaluža 2020-11-16 09:33:57 UTC
Based on RTT installability tests, this has been fixed for RHEL-8.4.0 Development compose on all architectures, including ppc64le.

Comment 10 Filip Pokryvka 2020-11-16 09:41:17 UTC
We now have crash detection (Segmentation Fault detection) in initrd in NetworkManager-ci, so this is catched on s390x (ppc64le is not working in our CI yet).
