Hi, you cloned a Fedora bug to RHEL. The bug itself is a wall of text, talking about different things. Could you highlight the part which you think should be fixed in rhel-8? Or give some context why you cloned this bug and which packages you were using (on RHEL8). Probably the information is there already, the please point it out. Thank you. The main point is that in RHEL 8.2 and 8.3 like in Fedora 32 can no longer set the hotspot using the menu in gnome under wifi settings, as the cloned ticket gives the upstream fix that Fedora 33 used to correct the issue If you open a shell and type 'nmcli general permissions', what's the output? Please also try to switch to a different section of gnome settings and then go back to "Wi-Fi", as suggested in: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/965 The work around does not have any effect on RHEL id did work for the latest Ubuntu PERMISSION VALUE org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.checkpoint-rollback auth org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-connectivity-check yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-network yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-statistics yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-wifi yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-wimax yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.enable-disable-wwan yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.network-control yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.reload auth org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.global-dns auth org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.hostname auth org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.own yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.sleep-wake no org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.wifi.scan yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.wifi.share.open yes org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.wifi.share.protected yes Since the user has the org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.wifi.share permissions, this looks like a bug in GNOME control center. We are missing https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/commit/9efe9eefd329ec564c4f9e2036bca593ec2af5ac After evaluating this issue, there are no plans to address it further or fix it in an upcoming release. Therefore, it is being closed. If plans change such that this issue will be fixed in an upcoming release, then the bug can be reopened. And actually, it does work under my 8.6. |
