Description Leon Fauster 2020-11-11 22:49:49 UTC
Description of problem:

RHEL7 installed without problems on iMac workstation.

RHEL8 is not installable because the platform is detected as macefi.

That forces the EFI system partition to be formatted as HFS instead vfat.

https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda/blob/55492ad6166f2cd7aed0e802bdf5b4875dc20f29/tests/nosetests/pyanaconda_tests/modules/storage/platform_test.py#L240

RHEL8 does not provide hfsplus-tools nor hfsplus kernel module.

Solution: vfat is still a valid FS for the EFI system partition. This works for RHEL7.

Anaconda should fallback to vfat for RHEL8 on macefi plattform.

Hello thank you for the report. However, Mac installations are not supported on RHEL and I would like to avoid change like this.
