Description jiri vanek 2020-11-20 16:54:13 UTC
Description of problem:
ITW 1.7 is becoming impossible to maintian. Having it frozen in el7 make sense as it is not going to have nonecurity updates.
Itw 1.8 is out for many years. In fedora and outer world, there is already itw 2.0 (but it is not enterprise ready yet).

There were many bugfixes for ITW 1.8 and I did my best to backport most important ones to 1.7 but it crossed its border and best is to update to 1.8 with all of them.

There is one major change next in 1.8 - native launchers.
We have three options:
1) keep only current shell launchers
2) replace current shell launchers with native ones
3) add native shell launchers as second option - subpackage

The native launchers are rust based and are statically linked.
