Description Chris Ball 2006-05-07 04:19:38 UTC
Description of problem:
Hi. Is the version of pcmciautils in Rawhide built with STARTUP=false set? If
so, why?

I'm seeing a hang when I boot my laptop with an Orinoco wireless card inserted,
but no hang if I insert it after udev is up. My config.opts sets a reduced
memory range to avoid the hang, but it hasn't been read at the point during boot
when the probe that hangs the machine happens. More details here:

http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-pcmcia/2006-May/003564.html

Is there a way for me to have the resource database used from startup in Rawhide
without having to maintain a local copy of pcmciautils?

Thanks.

$ fgrep STARTUP ./pcmciautils-014/Makefile
STARTUP = true

Hmm...

You may boot with "modprobedebug" and/or "udevdebug" added to the kernel command
line and recent updated udev packages to debug this problem.

Comment 3 Bug Zapper 2008-04-03 17:14:54 UTC
Based on the date this bug was created, it appears to have been reported
against rawhide during the development of a Fedora release that is no
longer maintained. In order to refocus our efforts as a project we are
flagging all of the open bugs for releases which are no longer
maintained. If this bug remains in NEEDINFO thirty (30) days from now,
we will automatically close it.

If you can reproduce this bug in a maintained Fedora version (7, 8, or
rawhide), please change this bug to the respective version and change
the status to ASSIGNED. (If you're unable to change the bug's version
or status, add a comment to the bug and someone will change it for you.)

Thanks for your help, and we apologize again that we haven't handled
these issues to this point.
