Description of problem:
Amsynth 1.12.1 has a buggy release which fails to connect to ALSA, so it makes the important feature of connecting a MIDI device not achievable. Version 1.11.0 might also be affected. 

Update to 1.12.2 needed due to bug:
https://github.com/amsynth/amsynth/issues/181

1. Run amsynth
2. Attempt to connect amsynth through JACK or qjack

Downgrading to 1.10 is a workaround.
