Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):gnome-terminal-2.14.1-1.fc5.1 How reproducible: Each time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start gnome-terminal 2. Display a file containing german umlauts 3. The umlauts will be displayed as question marks. Using the kde program "konsole" gives the correct output. If switching to terminal->set char enconding->utf-8, typed umlauts are displayed correctly, but not listed files containing umlauts (by cat for example). If you're currently running a version of Fedora Core between 1 and 6, please note that Fedora no longer maintains these releases. We strongly encourage you to upgrade to a current Fedora release. Now (F8) the output is correct if the char encoding of the gnome-terminal is changed to utf-8.
