I'm certainly in favor of something like this, an dindeed something close to this is being implemented for the arbiter/stretch cluster feature. The catch is that it is not available outside that configuration, and I'm not sure if that is sufficient to resolve this BZ. Based on that, moving this to OCS 4.8 for further consideration, but giving devel_ack+.
