Description Paulo Andrade 2021-02-12 14:08:48 UTC
The issue was fixed for rhel7 in bz# 677316 but the manual page
for systems with the issue fixed sitll say that the search list
is currently limited to six domains with a total of 256 characters.

Comment 1 Florian Weimer 2021-02-12 14:16:23 UTC
The manual pages are in the man-pages component.

Upstream commit:

commit c594a728b2313a41375d8e88901e5e4c64ae1ba0
Author: Nikola Forró <nforro>
Date: Wed Aug 7 14:17:19 2019 +0200

resolv.conf.5: Update information about search list

Since glibc 2.26, the number of domains in the search list is
    no longer limited.

Also recommended:

commit 551162f54f9b046693669cdd583ddf18f89bd25a
Author: Florian Weimer <fweimer>
Date: Thu Nov 7 13:05:14 2019 +0100

    resolv.conf.5: Attempt clarify domain/search interaction

The domain directive is historic at this point; it should not
    be used.
