This is gs bug 703270 which is fixed upstream here: http://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git;a=commit;h=c6166768c6e963b0fe28ccdb266629443e521381 It will be contained in the upcoming 9.54.0 release. (The bug was introduced in ghostpdl-9.53.0.) We might want to carry the simple patch until that release. I'll prepare a PR on dist-git. This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '32'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Same problem is still present in fedora 33. @Michael J Gruber: I see that you created pull-requests that should provide a workaround, thanks for that. I hope the packager can spare a few moments to actually accept them, since they still seem open after 2 months. Alas, there a few packaging challenges which Artifex presents us in that release. Update to my last comment: 9.54.0 indeed builds nicely as scratch build, but upstream contains a new OCR feature based on bundled libraries (and not-bundled additional training data), so there are packaging decisions to be made.
