dnf install needrestart

Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides iucode-tool needed by needrestart-3.5-3.fc33.noarch

Expected results:
successfully installed like x86_64 platform

Comment 1 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-03-15 08:01:19 UTC
It is in fact a problem in needrestart. iucode-tool is only meant for specific architectures. Since Recommends are now possible I just built 3.5-5 to fix this (on EL8 too).

Comment 2 bitchecker 2021-03-15 08:33:33 UTC
I still see the same error:

Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides iucode-tool needed by needrestart-3.5-3.fc33.noarch

Comment 3 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-03-15 09:37:18 UTC
yes, I just pushed the fix, so it's built successfully but not yet included in the repo.

Hi,
I still get the same error.

Comment 5 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-04-02 07:40:24 UTC
Hum, you're right. It did not make it for F34 and I just realized you're on F33. I don't think that's possible to make a fix for F33 now but maybe for F34, I need to have a look at it.

Comment 6 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-04-02 10:08:57 UTC
So it does not match the freeze exceptions for F34 and I will have to make a stable update later.

Hi,
there are some updates here?

Comment 8 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-04-26 03:10:17 UTC
As explained this change did not meet the freeze exceptions so I have to wait for F34 to be out to make a stable update. Currently it's still a beta so I cannot do anything.

Hi,
I've updated to F34 and I see this:

Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides iucode-tool needed by needrestart-3.5-4.fc34.noarch
(try to add '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages)

Comment 10 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-04-28 12:51:09 UTC
Seriously you're not very nice. F34 has just been released, so NO I did not have time to make the update in the few hours in between the release and your upgrade (not counting sleeping and the TZ difference), sorry. Even if I had the process is gonna take a few days.

Hi,
I didn't want to rush you but from your previous comment I understood that the modification was already ready for F34 and that you were unable to release it for F33, that's all.

Comment 12 Fedora Update System 2021-04-28 14:35:33 UTC
FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 34. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30

Comment 13 Marc Dequènes (Duck) 2021-04-28 14:39:44 UTC
The fix is done and is going to be included in F35 automagically. Now for F34 it was too late: after some point in time before a release you're not allowed to make changes unless it's a critical fix. Now that it's released there is a way to make updates into stable and I'm looking into it. that's my first time so I hope I get it right.

I made a build in the f34 branch and created a Bodhi update (see link above). Let's see how it goes.

Comment 14 Fedora Update System 2021-04-29 01:03:58 UTC
FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30 has been pushed to the Fedora 34 testing repository.
Soon you'll be able to install the update with the following command:
`sudo dnf upgrade --enablerepo=updates-testing --advisory=FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30`
You can provide feedback for this update here: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30

Comment 15 Fedora Update System 2021-05-07 01:02:13 UTC
FEDORA-2021-e4cb409e30 has been pushed to the Fedora 34 stable repository.
If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.

Comment 16 bitchecker 2021-05-07 07:15:46 UTC
HI,
I've tried to clean up repositories information and push an install for needrestart package but the error is still the same: nothing provides iucode-tool needed by needrestart-3.5-4.fc34.noarch

System still search for needrestart-3.5-4 package.

Maybe your mirror is not yet up-to-date. I have no idea how long it takes to be published once it is accepted and how long mirrors take to pick up the new things too.
