kernel log (dmesg) for non working 5.11.7-200.fc33
sorry first submit was incomplete... 1. Please describe the problem: after upgrade (& reboot) to kernel 5.11.7-200.fc33, the mouse pointer is displayed with garbage (no pointer visible, just small black lines instead) => pointer's bitmap likely broken 2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel: 5.11.7-200.fc33 3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue *first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 : it worked fine in 5.10.23-200.fc33 it broke after upgrading to 5.11.7-200.fc33 with current setup, rebooting with previous kernel version (5.10.23-200.fc33) doesn't show the issue => regression introduced in 5.11.7-200.fc33 4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce the issue below: just log in graphical mode 5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``: no 6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?: not to my knowledge 7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag. two attachments provided (one for working kernel, one for non working as expected kernel) I confirm same behaviour on Fedora 34 Beta kernel-5.11.3-300.fc34.x86_64 kernel-5.11.7-300.fc34.x86_64 kernel-5.11.8-300.fc34.x86_64 Runnnig Fedora 34 beta with kernel kernel-5.10.23-200.fc33.x86_64 fixes the problem. With kernel kernel-5.11.3-300.fc34.x86_64 in multi monitor workstation (Three GPU and Three monitors) mouse works only on one monitor while on the others i garbage. Mouse is garbage since gdm so not a Gnome problem kernel-5.10.23-200.fc33.x86_64 always fixes the problem with correct behaviour The attached dmesg shows that you are using a Kepler GPU. There is a known regression with the mouse cursoron Kepler GPUs which is fixed in the next Fedora 5.11 kernel (the one which will be released after the current 5.11.8 one). In the mean time it is best to just stick with the 5.10 kernel to avoid this problem. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1941291 *** |
