Comment 3 Nikolai Sednev 2021-06-16 23:20:30 UTC
As appears within the attachment, "Alma Linux 8+" is now supported in ovirt-engine-setup-4.4.7.3-0.3.el8ev.noarch as guest VM, as an optional guest VM to be created.

Comment 4 Nikolai Sednev 2021-06-17 07:20:53 UTC
Alma Linux icon has to be unique and should be changed to one that appears in the attachment.

Verified on RHV 4.4.7-3.

I won't verify the bug yet, I am waiting on the UX team for response.

Env:
  - Engine instance with RHV 4.4.7-3 (ovirt-engine-4.4.7.3-0.3.el8ev) and RHEL 8.4 installed.
  - 3 hosts with RHV 4.4.7-3 and RHEL 8.4, vdsm-4.40.70.3-1.el8ev

Tests:

  - Ran the new RHEL based guest image regression in the automation both with UEFI and BIOS.

    Result: All the tests passed.

  - Checked that QEMU information was retrieved from the VM and it is displayed properly.

Result: The QEMU information was retrieved from the VM and it is displayed properly.

  - Checked that AlmaLinux is listed as an operating systems (Checked Rest and UI).

Result: It appeared in the dropdown when creating/editing VM/Templates and also in the Rest API:

Alma Linux 8+

  - Checked that the icon for AlmaLinux is set with AlmaLinux's icon.

Result: The OS icon is set but it isn't AlmaLinux's icon.

We are waiting on the UX team for response.

We should get the icons, but it may take some time. For now, the scope of this bug is to add the OS to the list.
I opened a new bug (BZ1977225) for the icons.

Target release should be placed once a package build is known to fix a issue. Since this bug is not modified, the target version has been reset. Please use target milestone to plan a fix for a oVirt release.

AlmaLinux OS, as CentOS, can be defined as Other Linux (Kernel 4.x)
