.PAM plug-in version 1.0 does not work in `MariaDB` `MariaDB 10.3` provides the Pluggable Authentication Modules (PAM) plug-in version 1.0. `MariaDB 10.5` provides the plug-in versions 1.0 and 2.0, version 2.0 is the default. The `MariaDB` PAM plug-in version 1.0 does not work in RHEL 8. To work around this problem, use the PAM plug-in version 2.0 provided by the `mariadb:10.5` module stream.

Description Michal Schorm 2021-03-24 08:02:51 UTC
This regression was found out retrospectively and traced to the RHEL 8.3.0 GA, where 'pam' and 'systemd-pam' packages were updated.

The MariaDB plugin haven´t worked ever since.

MariaDB introduced PAM_v2 plugin in 10.4 release. (So in MDB >= 10.4 there are both plugin v1 and v2 available)

The PAMv2 plugin works fine.
