Description mulhern 2021-04-16 23:42:37 UTC
Description of problem:

Existing stratis90 module in dracut prevents installation of stratisd 2.4.0,
not yet released, which supplies its own stratis90 module.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

dracut 049, which is the version in RHEL 8.5 contains the module.
dracut 051, not in RHEL 8.5, is the first version of dracut in which the module has been removed.

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install dracut
2. Observe stratis90 dracut module in /usr/lib/dracut/modules.d

Actual results:

Module is there. dnf refuses to install stratisd with error something like:
"transaction test error": the file "/usr/lib/dracut/modules.d/90stratis/module-setup.sh" conflicts with one that is in the dracut-049... package

Expected results:

Desired results: module is gone. dnf does not discover a transaction test error.

Additional info:

Upstream removal, as a model: https://github.com/dracutdevs/dracut/pull/897

Comment 1 David Tardon 2021-04-19 08:26:06 UTC
Does this mean stratisd is going to be rebased to 2.4.X in 8.5?

Comment 2 mulhern 2021-04-20 12:57:48 UTC
Yes.

Comment 3 David Tardon 2021-04-20 13:59:56 UTC
And is there already a bug for the rebase?

Comment 4 Dennis Keefe 2021-04-20 14:17:04 UTC
Rebase BZ: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1931671

Comment 5 mulhern 2021-04-20 15:05:04 UTC
I believe adding a "Blocks" link is the correct protocol.
