Description Dennis Payne 2021-04-24 22:50:50 UTC
Description of problem:
Open Alchemist has not been updated for some time. Alchemy Quest is based off of Open Alchemist and can run the original game in addition to the new mode. You simply need to build Alchemy Quest and make a symbolic link named openalchemist.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
0.4 is in Fedora. 0.5.1 is available from:
http://identicalsoftware.com/alchemyquest/index.html

I should mention this build uses SDL2, SDL2_image, SDL2_mixer, expat, boost, and libzip not ClanLib. Additionally we should build with libgamerzilla-devel added as BuildRequired so that it has achievement support.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still playing openalchemist from time to time and I'm glad you took over from the former upstream.

My first impression is this should be considered a new package and this will require a new review. We could later make it Obsoletes/Provides openalchemist and then have openalchemist be retired, as it is effectively dead upstream.
As I see you are already a Fedora packager, would you like to submit a review request that I could review or would you like to go the other way round, I submit a review request and you do the review ? What do you think ?
Either way, I'd be happy to either co-maintain or have you as a co-maintainer.

Regards,
Xavier

I will put together a package and let you know when it is available.

New package review has been created: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1956580

Could you please build for F35 too so I can retire openalchemist which is FTBS on F35 ?
Also you may add me as co-maintainer if you wish.

Package has been added to F35 (or at least it will be once the karma/wait period lets it through). I've added xavierb as a co-maintainer. If that is the wrong username let me know.

Perfect, thank you.
