Description ricky.tigg 2021-04-29 13:08:31 UTC
Description of problem: None of the disk images that virt-manager starts properly can be started by Virtualbox despite required component are installed.

Version-Release number of component: VirtualBox.x86_64 6.1.20-2.fc34

How reproducible:

Installed components:
VirtualBox.x86_64 6.1.20-2.fc34 @rpmfusion-free
VirtualBox-kmodsrc.noarch 6.1.20-2.fc34 @rpmfusion-free
VirtualBox-server.x86_64 6.1.20-2.fc34 @rpmfusion-free
akmod-VirtualBox.x86_64 6.1.20-1.fc34 @rpmfusion-free
kernel-devel.x86_64 5.11.16-300.fc34 @updates
virtualbox-guest-additions.x86_64 6.1.20-1.fc34 @updates

ISO source: Fedora 34 desktop x86_64.

Actual result once starting is invoked:

"Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is probably not loaded. You may not have kernel driver installed for kernel that is runnig, if so you may do as root: dnf install akmod-VirtualBox kernel-devel-$(uname -r)If you (...)"

On my system

# dnf -q install kernel-devel-$(uname -r)
Error: Unable to find a match: kernel-devel-5.11.15-300.fc34.x86_64

Expected results:
- Guidance to be reliable then '$(uname -r)' not to refer to a non last version – 5.11.15-300.fc34.x86_64 – but the last – 5.11.16-300.fc34.x86_64.
- Disk images to be started.
