Description ingli 2021-05-01 12:20:01 UTC
I noted the problem the first time a year ago for the x org mode. In wayland the problem is not present.

Description of problem:
Under Xorg mode Gnome becomes unusable when I want to have operate one display in portrait mode and two others in landscape mode.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
I have one displayport screen (resolution 1920*1080) and 2 hdmi screens (resolution 1920*1080; 1600*900). Whenever I use gnome settings to move the hdmi 1600*900 sceen into portrait mode, the overall display gets distorted - the cursor is not in sync with what is shown.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. connect three displays with different resolutions, configured in landscape mode.
2. put one in portrait mode.

Actual results:
Some part of the overall display will be "distorted". In that distorted part when I click the cursor on a visible point (say a button), then that button does not get clicked.

Expected results:
the cursor should know where it is...

Sorry to bother, did anybody have a chance to consider this issue? Or maybe let me know if I could provide any information that might be useful to consider the issue?

I have taken three photos to showcase the issue
https://owncloud.itu.dk/index.php/s/eu5Y7RTsfIgmT6G

each of these photos shows 3 monitors
a) 3landscape.jpg - here all 3 in landscape display mode, each monitor is displayed correctly with a number, left to right, 1, 2, 3
b) 1portrait2landscape.jpg - here 1 in portrait mode, 2 in landscape mode
c) 2portraits1landscape.jpg - here 2 in portrait mode, 1 in landscape mode

in b&c you can see black parts on the central landscape monitor. This is a simple indicator of something being wrong.
In 1portrait2landscape you see that display "3" is shown two times, once on the central monitor and once on the right hand monitor, you also see the same browser window twice.
In 2portraits1landscape you see that the central monitor's display is displayed at the wrong coordinates.

Now also tested on 5.12.5-300.fc34.x86_64 - problem continues.

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 34 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 34 on 2022-06-07.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '34'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 34 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.
