we are hitting https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/libqmi/-/issues/37

as well during our tests.

Tried multiple times with suggested reproducer from:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/libqmi/-/issues/37 and no crash.
