Description John Brearley 2006-07-08 15:39:38 UTC
Description of problem:
Yum destroyed my Fedora Core 5 installation when it ran out of disk space. Yum
showed me 940MB of updates to download, which I approved. Neither I nor Yum
noticed that I only had about 800MB of disk space left. After yum finished its
job, I rebooted the PC and was told that the X11 server wouldnt start. I
tinkered a bit, gave up and reinstalled Fedora Core 5 with a slightly larger
partition.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.6.15-1.2054_FC5

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have low disk space
2. get all available updates; type: yum update
3. when done, reboot.

Actual results:
toasted installation.

Expected results:
up to date installation

Additional info:
Please add disk space checks before proceeding with downloads & installation.

Yum has diskspace checks before installs.

Did you disable the diskspace check in your yum.conf?
