Description Seth Haines 2006-07-14 19:48:35 UTC
Description of problem:
Our custom software suite is exceeding the maximum number of connections allowed
to the RHEL 4 XOrg X11 server.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
RHEL4U3 WS

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open 250+ applications accessing a single X11 server
2.
3.

Actual results:
Xlib: connection to "my_server:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Maximum number of clients reached

Expected results:
We have a complex silmulation from 100s of processes accessing a single 6 headed
computer display and we would need to open up at least 500 connections to the X
server to meet our requirement. We would like the maximum number of connections
allowed to be configurable on the X-Server.

Additional info:
Hardware config for X-Server machine is HP XW8200 3.8GHz Xeon with 1GB RAM

Comment 3 Adam Jackson 2008-04-11 15:47:57 UTC
This was fixed in RHEL 4.6, in xorg-x11 6.8.2-1.EL.25 and later.
