Description Amar Huchchanavar 2021-08-04 04:56:00 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
Customize the columns in Red Hat Insights inventory page.

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
When visiting the Red Hat Insights inventory page (https://console.redhat.com/insights/inventory/), the columns are pre-defined (Name, Tags OS and Last Seen) and only Name and Last Seen are sortable.

The user experience would be improved if one could add and remove columns. Columns added would come from the information available under the machine's General Information tab (https://console.redhat.com/insights/inventory/${UUID}?appName=general_information) -- namely, the System Properties, BIOS, Configuration, Operating System, Infrastructure and Collection Information.

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
When an enterprise has hundreds or thousands of machines registered to Insights, being able to add columns and sort by them would greatly ease in finding like systems and comparing them.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
+ Add a drop down menu near the far right inventory column's header
that lets users select additional columns to be added.
+ For each column header, add an "X" or make it right-clickable for
  removal.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
Visit https://console.redhat.com/insights/inventory/ and see if new columns can be added and existing columns can be removed.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
None were found.

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?
No.

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
No.

10. List any affected packages or components.
No RPM packages are affected.

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes.

PM Review March 2023
Thank you for this request, and I apologize for the delay in a timely update. Our team has reviewed this request, and while we acknowledge this is a valid request, we do not foresee this being implemented in the next 3-6 months due to current priorities and active efforts underway. Our team is actively evaluating the future designs and workflows for our Inventory on the Hybrid Cloud Console, and we have factored this feedback about customizable columns directly into those discussions for our future vision. Since this ticket has been open for quite some time now without implementation to-date, and along with the information above, I'm going to move towards closing this ticket as CLOSED DEFERRED.
