Description of problem:
with the new modem UI, when the control center is opened and a modem is connected via the GS menu, the state is not changed in c-c, you need to switch tabs. The disconnect has the same symptoms.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

gnome-shell-40.4-2.el9.x86_64
gnome-control-center-40.0-14.el9.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open gcc
2. open GS menu and connect a modem

Actual results:
state is still disconnected in gcc

Expected results:

Does the modem actually connect? If yes, then that's between ModemManager and control center.

Comment 2 Vladimir Benes 2021-08-27 13:22:03 UTC
yes, I clicked GS menu and connected the modem, but control-center stayed the same, connected, should cc reads dbus about state change? If yes, could you switch the component to gcc?

Comment 3 Florian Müllner 2021-08-27 13:30:35 UTC
Yes, the only way gnome-shell interacts directly with gnome-control-center is when handling the various "... Settings" menu items.
