Description Vesselin Kolev 2006-07-24 09:59:08 UTC
Description of problem:

Jwhois uses whois.ripe.net (according to /etc/jwhois.conf), when searching for
domains in .bg Top Level Domain.

Official whois service for .bg Top Level Domain, is running on whois.register.bg.

The RIPE Whois Database is not the same as the domain name registries run by the
country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) administrators of Europe and surrounding
areas. The IANA ccTLD Database provides a full list of the ccTLD administrators.
[17]. You should contact these for authoritative information on forward domains.

Comment 2 Miloslav Trmač 2006-07-24 21:51:58 UTC
Thanks for your report.

This will be fixed in RHEL 5. A RHEL update containing an updated list would
be very likely already obsolete by the time it gets thoroughly tested and
issued as a part of an RHEL update release. The upstream configuration file
available at
http://savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/*checkout*/jwhois/jwhois/example/jwhois.conf?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain
contains updated data about the .bg whois servers, you can use it instead of
/etc/jwhois.conf shipped in the RHEL jwhois package.
