Please keep in mind that with any upstream change, there may also be packaging changes that need to be made. Specifically, please remember that it is your responsibility to review the new version to ensure that the licensing is still correct and that no non-free or legally problematic items have been added upstream.

If you’d rather not have bugs filed for pre-releases, we can add “rc” to the “Version Filter” on release-monitoring.org: https://release-monitoring.org/project/115295/edit

Rather confusingly, you can’t see the effect in the test check or in the already-retrieved versions, but it does work.

Comment 4 Ben Beasley 2021-12-05 16:23:12 UTC
When you have a chance to package the final release, I’ll use it for a new EPEL9 branch.

(I’m also working on grpc 1.42.0, and I’m curious if an updated abseil-cpp would help with a large number of new segfaults in the tests in grpc_httpcli_get() -> operator delete() -> strlen(), which seem to be associated with a change to using absl::string_view in more places.)

Let me know if I can do anything to help.

I have a PR for this: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/abseil-cpp/pull-request/1

I’m starting to test it in a COPR: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/music/abseil-cpp-20211102.0/

Update currently in progress for Rawhide in side tag f37-build-side-51675. It will probably take a few days to finish coordinating all dependent package rebuilds.
