Description Mikhail Novosyolov 2021-12-20 06:27:36 UTC
I was very surprized to find out that find-debuginfo.sh from rpm and now from debugedit skips SUID executables.

A simple test with params of find(1) copied from find-debuginfo:

[user@rosa2019 debug]$ echo foo > test1
[user@rosa2019 debug]$ echo foo > test2
[user@rosa2019 debug]$ chmod 755 test1
[user@rosa2019 debug]$ chmod 4755 test1
[user@rosa2019 debug]$ ls -la
итого 8
drwxrwxr-x 2 user user 80 дек 20 09:04 .
drwxrwxrwt 15 root root 440 дек 20 09:04 ..
-rwsr-xr-x 1 user user 4 дек 20 09:04 test1
-rw-rw-r-- 1 user user 4 дек 20 09:04 test2
[user@rosa2019 debug]$ find . \( -perm -0100 -or -perm -0010 -or -perm -0001 \)
.
./test1

In practice /usr/bin/ksu from krb5 source package has mode 4755, %make_install makes it be 4755. %__find_debuginfo does not strip it, but it must be stripped.

Are there any reasons to skip such files?!

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 36 development cycle.
Changing version to 36.

Comment 2 Ben Cotton 2023-04-25 16:46:52 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 36 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 36 on 2023-05-16.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a
'version' of '36'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 36 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

Comment 3 Mark Wielaard 2023-04-27 18:50:25 UTC
The same find is still used in the current find-debuginfo

Comment 4 Fedora Release Engineering 2023-08-16 07:05:05 UTC
