Description Peter Ondrejka 2022-01-03 11:13:50 UTC
Description of problem:

On a fresh installation of Satellite 7 snap 3, the default Capsule has got the following features enabled:

    Ansible
    Discovery
    Dynflow
    Logs
    Openscap
    Pulpcore
    SSH
    TFTP

Notably Registration and Templates features are missing, the list should be reviewed against 6.10 defaults for any unintended setting changes

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Sat 7 snap 3

How reproducible:
always

Actual results:
above

Expected results:
Default features on par with 6.10 (except for any planned changes)

Comment 1 Brad Buckingham 2022-01-05 14:12:44 UTC
Aligning to 7.0 for investigation. If these are new defaults, we should ensure that documentation is updated, if needed.

Comment 2 Adam Ruzicka 2022-01-10 12:19:45 UTC
Both should be disabled by default, we need to update the docs. For details why this happened see [1] and [2].

Comment 12 Adam Lazik 2022-10-04 10:14:02 UTC
Hello!
After discussing the doc impact with Adam Ruzicka, it seems that only documentation parts that explicitly mention the use of Registration feature should be updated. However, this change seems to already be incorporated. In https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.11/html/managing_hosts/registering_hosts_to_server_managing-hosts#Registering_Hosts_managing-hosts there is a step to check whether the feature is enabled before proceeding. I have not been able to find any other instances that mention the explicit use of the registration feature. If someone knows about a section that should be updated, please let me know.

Comment 13 Adam Lazik 2022-10-07 10:19:26 UTC
@pondrejk Are you aware of any other sections that should be updated?

Comment 14 Peter Ondrejka 2022-10-11 12:10:31 UTC
Well, I'm not familiar with the docs suite trough and trough, so I can't answer that, the shared section looks fine though

Comment 15 Adam Lazik 2022-10-11 13:49:38 UTC
Thank you for your response, Peter!
Since the change seems to be already incorporated in the docs, I am closing this ticket.
See https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_satellite/6.11/html/managing_hosts/registering_hosts_to_server_managing-hosts#Registering_Hosts_managing-hosts to find updated steps that guide the user to enable the registration feature if disabled.
