Description of problem:
The new XDG SingleMainWindow key for desktop files supersedes the legacy X-GNOME-SingleWindow key, and is used in packages that will be offered via EPEL. Please backport the functionality to GNOME Shell so that it works properly without requiring patching things to use the legacy key.

I don't see enough reason for hunting down permission flags to land this, just to have the same change brought in anyway by the 40.8 update.

That is, I'd rather keep the flag hunting to bug #2040061.
