Description Debarshi Ray 2022-01-27 14:28:55 UTC
We are shipping a pre-release snapshot of Toolbx 0.0.99.3 in RHEL >= 8.5. This was done because we did a lot of work upstream to make sure that Toolbx will work well on RHEL, and we didn't want to make an upstream release until it was confirmed that things do work well on RHEL.

Now that some time has passed, it seems that things are working well, and we do have a new Toolbx release available that's also shipping in RHEL 9 and Fedoras >= 34. So, we should put it in RHEL 8 and benefit from some free bug-fixes, a more uniform code-base and a simpler version number.

ITM moved to DTM+1

Comment 10 Debarshi Ray 2022-08-23 14:56:21 UTC
It seems like we already have the 0.0.99.3 release in the 3.0 stream of the container-tools module, but not in the "newer" 4.0 and 'rolling' streams. See bug 2115089

I am discussing with jnovy how to synchronize the version of github.com/containers/toolbox across all the different streams of the container-tools module in RHEL 8. I don't know of any reason to have different versions in different streams.

Comment 11 Debarshi Ray 2022-08-23 16:11:10 UTC
Pushing this one back to RHEL 8.8.

Comment 12 Debarshi Ray 2022-08-29 14:43:49 UTC
I am re-labeling this bug for the 'rolling' stream of the container-tools module in RHEL 8.

We can use bug 2115089 for the 4.0 stream of the container-tools module in RHEL 8.

Built toolbox-0.0.99.3-2.el8 as part of container-tools:rhel8:

It turns out that we actually don't the upstream 0.0.99.3 release in container-tools:3.0.

The fact that there's a toolbox-0.0.99.3-1 RPM in container-tools:3.0 doesn't mean that it actually has the upstream 0.0.99.3 sources. It doesn't. :(

I filed bug 2140643 to fix that.

All tests pass. toolbox works as intended.
