Description Davide Cavalca 2022-02-23 18:56:52 UTC
On s390x, the binutils package ships a windres binary, which is not included in for other architectures (e.g. compare the file list for binutils-2.35.2-17.el9.s390x vs binutils-2.35.2-17.el9.x86_64).

Unfortunately, this binary doesn't actually work, failing with

windres: Can't detect architecture.

This is problematic because windres is sometimes detected by autotools, leading then to failed builds like https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=83236147

Comment 1 Davide Cavalca 2022-02-23 18:57:13 UTC
This also applies to Fedora: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2057636

Comment 2 Nick Clifton 2022-02-28 11:05:41 UTC
Need to update the binutils.spec file so that the windres binary is not shipped.

Comment 3 Nick Clifton 2022-03-07 14:27:59 UTC
Fixed in binutils-2.35.2-18.el9

Comment 4 Miloš Prchlík 2022-04-11 07:19:59 UTC
Bumping ITM by one week to gain more time for testing. I got distracted by the fallout of the recent PSI outage.

Comment 8 Miloš Prchlík 2022-04-14 14:10:38 UTC
Verified with binutils-2.35.2-19.el9.
