Description of problem:
The circle with Fedora is a distinctly elliptical shape. The desktop background
looks fine, however.

Confirmed, gdm is not widescreen-aware.

The new gdm uses the multi-resolution enhanced GnomeBg code, so given the right
background, this problem is solved.
