Description Michal Sekletar 2022-03-17 09:22:02 UTC
Description of problem:
Recently there were important changes made to kernel-install infrastracture in upstream that we need to backport. If we don't do this then we will have to support kernel-install infrastracture for the entire life-time of RHEL-9 that is not in line with upstream and implements ideas that were (recently) abandoned in upstream, i.e. use of KERNEL_INSTALL_MACHINE_ID.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
systemd-250-4

How reproducible:
deterministic

Steps to Reproduce:
1. grep KERNEL_INSTALL_MACHINE_ID /etc/machine-info

Actual results:
/etc/machine-info contains KERNEL_INSTALL_MACHINE_ID

Expected results:
/etc/machine-info shouldn't contain KERNEL_INSTALL_MACHINE_ID variable
