Description Frank Hirtz 2022-03-29 19:33:33 UTC
Description of problem:

We'd like to request that the boost iostreams library be built with lzma compression support. The default boost iostreams library is not build with lzma compression support on RHEL8. We are using the default boost 1.66.0 on our environment.

/usr/include/boost/iostreams/filter/lzma.hpp is available using boost-devel package, but we would like to see lzma support in /usr/lib64/libboost_iostreams.so.1.66.0 as well.

What is the business impact? Please also provide timeframe information.
We are building our tools on RHEL8, but this is preventing us migrating to it.

Where are you experiencing the behavior? What environment?
RHEL8

When does the behavior occur? Frequency? Repeatedly? At certain times?
Everytime

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
[root@lab-rhel8-1 ~]# rpm -q boost-iostreams
boost-iostreams-1.66.0-10.el8.x86_64
[root@lab-rhel8-1 ~]# ldd /usr/lib64/libboost_iostreams.so.1.66.0 | grep lzma | wc -l
0

Actual results:
0

Expected results:
1
