> USE_TEMPADDR > ============ As Beniamino points out, there is probably no problem related to temporary addresses. Kernel should prefer them: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/merge_requests/1185#note_1339424 the actual change in behavior was merged upstream, with https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/merge_requests/1185. Moving to POST. Note that this change is potentially problematic material for RHEL-8.7. Is it a desirable bug-fix, or an undesirable change in behavior? I argue it's the former. We need to document it properly. There is a followup fix, which should help with certain edge cases: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/merge_requests/1200 ok, change of plan. We decided to change this upstream (1.39+). Also to backport to nm-1-38 (before 1.38.0 release). Also put into Fedora 36+ Thereby collect some feedback. In the meantime, for rhel-8.7 and rhel-9.1 we will revert the change downstream (during rebase). Whether the downstream patches will be dropped for rhel-8.8 or rhel-9.2 will be decided based on the feedback. The change will hit rhel-10.0 (unless reverted upstream first). For now, moving to rhel-8.8. The topic of address ordering is confusing, because it's not even entirely clear what should be done best. It's also confusing because we changed behavior in the past (intentional and due to bugs and bugfixes), so you have to look at a specific NetworkManager version to say how it behaves. In general, for a few months upstream 1.40.0 runs with the latest and intended behavior. That behavior is presumed to be the desirable, best behavior. This behavior is now also in latest rhel-8.7 and rhel-9.1 -- the only difference is that rhel-8.7 reverts one minor aspects to stay with the previous behavior (that "ipv6.addresses" are with least important address first on 8.7). See https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/rpms/NetworkManager/-/blob/53768ceaad3618e01be7597075405a05914193cf/0003-order-ipv6-addresses.patch ) This bug can belatedly by added to errata. I think there are already all tests in place. actually, there really is nothing relevant about this bug anymore. I close it as duplicate of bug 2097270, which covers this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 2097270 *** |
