It's true that you need to run 'subscription-manager repos' or some other action that triggers a profile upload, before the host's errata and package information will be updated. I'm not yet sure where the fix is, but this would be a valid RFE. A possible fix in Katello would be When changing a host's CV/LCE: 1. Display a banner informing the user that changes to errata applicability and installed packages won't be reflected until the next checkin or package action. 2. Offer the user the option to send the host a REX job that initiates a package profile upload, so that you won't have to wait for the above. *** Bug 2168710 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2168710#c15 which confirms the fix should be in Katello and not sub-man/yum/dnf.
