Doc Text:
A flaw was found in shim during the handling of EFI executables. A crafted EFI image can lead to an overflow in shim. This flaw allows an attacker to perform an out-of-bounds write in memory. A successful attack can lead to data integrity, confidentiality issues, and arbitrary code execution.

Description Marco Benatto 2022-05-26 20:50:34 UTC
There's a possible overflow in handle_image() when shim tries to load and execute crafted EFI executables. The handle_image() function takes in account by the SizeOfRawData field from each section to be load, an attacker can leverage this to perform out-of-bound writes into memory. Arbitrary code execution is not discarded in such scenario.
