Description alphacc 2022-07-20 14:44:26 UTC
Hello,

I would like to ask for epel9 branch for this package.
But I noticed that the upstream library has been renamed in the meanwhile to python-oracledb.

How do you think we should proceed ?

I am happy to help !

It depends on what's needed. I guess that not many packages have migrated to python-oracledb yet. python-oracledb would be a new package as it's not a drop-in replacement (`import cx_Oracle` vs. `import oracledb`).

Not really related but python-oracledb is now available in Fedora and EPEL.

Comment 3 Steve Traylen 2023-05-29 08:56:13 UTC
The current rawhide package builds without modification in EPEL9.

Please branch and build python-cx-oracle in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain python-cx-oracle in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
I would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package stevetraylen;
please add me through https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/<package>/adduser
