Description of problem (please be detailed as possible and provide log
snippests):

After connecting to an external ceph cluster, all block services are available (green check, PVCs work) but object services are in a degraded state.

Version of all relevant components (if applicable):
OCP 4.10.22
ODF 4.10.5 (from OLM)

Does this issue impact your ability to continue to work with the product
(please explain in detail what is the user impact)?

Yes, the openshift-storage.noobaa.io storage class is missing

Is there any workaround available to the best of your knowledge?

I can create buckets directly with the noobaa client.

Rate from 1 - 5 the complexity of the scenario you performed that caused this
bug (1 - very simple, 5 - very complex)?

3 - setting up the external ceph cluster incurs some complexity

Can this issue reproducible?

I have reproduced this issue with the last three install attempts, as have my colleagues (using the same external ceph cluster)

Can this issue reproduce from the UI?

Yes.

If this is a regression, please provide more details to justify this:

Steps to Reproduce:

Basically, follow https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_openshift_data_foundation/4.10/html/deploying_openshift_data_foundation_in_external_mode/deploy-openshift-data-foundation-using-red-hat-ceph-storage#doc-wrapper

1. Install ODF operator
2. Follow instructions for creating storagecluster with external ceph cluster
3. Follow instructions to verify MCG

Actual results:

MCG is not available via UI

Expected results:

MCG is healthy

Comment 3 Chandler Wilkerson 2022-07-25 22:21:14 UTC
This actually may be a problem with the underlying Ceph cluster. I switched to a different storage pool, and MCG comes up normally for me.

We are going to try deleting the pool I had problems with and recreate it.

If you like, you can either close this issue NOTABUG or wait and I can report back if we can replicate the problem.

Comment 4 Nimrod Becker 2022-07-26 06:53:58 UTC
We can wait a few days for sure :)

Comment 5 Chandler Wilkerson 2022-07-27 16:35:38 UTC
It looks like the issue is resolved. My recreated pool comes up in external mode with full MCG support.

Thanks for your patience!

Comment 6 Nimrod Becker 2022-07-28 04:48:29 UTC
Great news, closing then
