Description Peter Bieringer 2022-07-22 09:50:17 UTC
Description of problem:
x2goclient turns unusable once qt libraries were updated from 5.12 (EL8.4) to 5.15 (EL8.5/8.6).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
x2goclient-4.1.2.2-1.el8
qt5-qtbase-5.15.2-4.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtx11extras-5.15.2-2.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtsvg-5.15.2-4.el8.x86_64
qt5-qtbase-gui-5.15.2-4.el8.x86_64
qt5-srpm-macros-5.15.2-1.el8.noarch
qt5-qtbase-common-5.15.2-4.el8.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. update EL8 system to "latest"
2. start x2goclient
3. start sesson connect

Actual results:
hanging after creating a x2go session on server side

Expected results:
working as before in EL8.4

Additional info:
x2goclient-4.1.2.2-1.el8 was built long time ago, but a rebuild of latest (x2goclient-4.1.2.2-6.fc36) on EL8.6 would not solve the issue.

Workaround:

downgrade libraries back to
qt5-qtbase-5.12.5-8.el8.x86_64.rpm
qt5-qtbase-gui-5.12.5-8.el8.x86_64.rpm
qt5-qtx11extras-5.12.5-1.el8.x86_64.rpm
qt5-qtbase-common-5.12.5-8.el8.noarch.rpm
qt5-qtsvg-5.12.5-1.el8.x86_64.rpm

I have no idea what the issue would be here. Can you bring this up with upstream? Just to confirm - you tested with a rebuild rpm and it made no difference?

Comment 2 Peter Bieringer 2022-07-28 05:58:48 UTC
haven't reported to upstream so far because unsure whether it's an EL8-only issue (FC36 -> FC36 is working)

rebuilded x2goclient-4.1.2.2-6.fc36 on an EL8.latest system had not solved the issue

Comment 3 Orion Poplawski 2022-07-29 02:53:16 UTC
They are still the best people to help troubleshoot the issue.

Does 4.1.2.3 help? https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2023-b7ad3bfa8f

Comment 6 Peter Bieringer 2023-07-31 19:35:05 UTC
Looks like issue disappeared with newest version for EL8, thank you very much!
